Getting Married? 7 Places to Pop the Question

Engagement season is seriously the most wonderful time of the year and a lot of people pop the question during this period. If you’ve already got the ring and the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you’ve got the first two steps of proposing covered. Now it’s time to figure out where you’re going to pop the question. Here are a few of our favorite places to propose.

The Site of Your First Date

If you and your better half are the nostalgic types, consider popping the question back where it all began. Take your partner to the site of your first date and take a stroll down memory lane before getting down on one knee.

Outdoors

Maybe your and your partner are nature enthusiasts—use this to your advantage. Proposing in nature doesn’t mean traveling out of Nigeria to Zimbabwe or to one of the other natural wonders of the world. It can be right in your hometown. Whether you go on a romantic hike or long walk on the beach, the beautiful outdoors will be the perfect backdrop for your proposal.

While Trying Something New

For all the adventurers and adrenaline junkies out there, we suggest popping the question while attempting a new activity. Whether it’s climbing a mountain (Olumo Rock), Going Kayaking, a waterfall (Erin Ijesha), Yankari Game Reserve, a proposal will make the experience that much more special. Plus it makes for a wild story to tell your friends and family members for years to come.

A Restaurant

If you and your partner are foodies, proposing in a restaurant (especially a new hotspot you’re psyched to visit) can be ideal. While we don’t recommend hiding the ring in the food (too risky- It may get eaten), you can easily pop the question toward the end of the meal. To add to the element of surprise, you can even have family and friends waiting in a private room at the restaurant to keep the party going.

At Home

If you and your significant other are the kind of couple that just want to hang out at home, or you just don’t have the time to plan an over-the-top proposal, consider staying home and making it truly special. Whether you choose to make a romantic meal for two or cuddle on the couch with your favorite sweet treat and Netflix, an intimate proposal at home will be a great start to your new life together.

While on Vacation

With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to orchestrate a proposal. If you and your partner have a vacation coming up, you have the perfect opportunity to pop the question. Whether you’ve got some touristy activities planned or are just hoping to get some relaxing time in, you’ll have your partner’s undivided attention.

At a Family Event

Now we don’t suggest popping the question at someone else’s celebration (like a baby shower or wedding), but if the family is important to your partner, a family event or function will be a great background for your proposal—we’re thinking Christmas morning. Family members will also be so happy to be a part of that special moment in your life.
